Della piu che novissima iconologia
Cesare Ripa's Iconologia, expanded by Giovanni Zaratino Castellini and printed at Padua by Donato Pasquardi in 1630, a reference handbook of allegorical figures for artists, poets, and emblem makers. Small framed woodcuts show standing personifications with windblown drapery and identifying attributes — helmet, spear, globe with bird, sheaf of grain — beside cast ornament borders of urns and flames.
