Della piu che novissima iconologia
Cesare Ripa's Iconologia, expanded by Giovanni Zaratino Castellini and printed at Padua by Donato Pasquardi in 1630, an alphabetical handbook of allegorical figures for painters, poets, and emblem-makers. Each entry carries a small framed woodcut of a standing personification with her attributes — snake, cornucopia, flowering branch, torch, wind-blown drapery — beside grotesque candelabra borders usable as ornament strips.
