Cesare Ripa's dictionary of allegorical personifications, enlarged by Giovanni Zaratino Castellini and printed at Padua by Donato Pasquardi in 1630, compiled as a reference for painters, poets, sculptors and emblem-makers. The scanned pages yield letterpress woodcut ornament: strapwork headbands with winged putti blowing horns and a mask flanked by feathered wings, a footed vase of fruit and laurel supported by snails, and a foliate initial L.
