Dell'arte dei giardini inglesi
Ercole Silva's 1800 Milan treatise on the English landscape garden, engraved by Gaetano Riboldi and others for Italian landowners and garden designers adopting the informal English style. Plates are small copperplate landscapes with fine hatched foliage, open lawns, serpentine paths and water, and classical temples, pavilions and rustic bridges set among framing trees, with tiny strolling figures for scale.
