Delle porpore e delle materie vestiarie presso gli antichi : dissertazione epistolare
A 1786 epistolary dissertation by the physician Michele Rosa on the purple dye and textile materials of the ancients, printed at the Ducal Press in Modena for antiquarians and naturalists, with plates engraved by Francesco Rosaspina. Copperplate studies show murex shells in several views with numbered small specimens, while letterpress woodcuts give rococo cartouche headpieces, a classical profile medallion, and small coastal landscapes with ruined arches and dye works—usable as ornament, page furniture, and natural-history silhouettes.
