Dell'idea della architettura universale
Vincenzo Scamozzi's architectural treatise, first issued in 1615 and reprinted in Venice by Girolamo Albrizzi in 1714 with plates by engraver Alessandro dalla Via, addressed to architects and builders. Alongside its measured drawings of orders and plans sit square decorated initials packed with flowers, berries and curling acanthus in heavy black line, usable as drop caps, borders and repeating ornament.
