De ludis privatis ac domesticis veterum liber vnicus
A Latin treatise on the private and domestic games of the ancients by the French scholar Jules César Boulenger, printed at Lyon in 1627 for antiquarians and classical readers. The plates are typographic: a woodcut headpiece of a grinning mask flanked by birds, fruit swags and scrollwork, a foliate initial enclosing a crouching animal, and a later pen-drawn bookplate in looping copperplate script, useful for ornament borders, decorated capitals and lettering models.
