De l'utilité des voyages : et de l'avantage que la recherche des antiquitez procure aux sçavans
A French antiquarian treatise of 1686 by Charles-César Baudelot de Dairval, printed in Paris by Auboüin and Emery with engravings by Franz Ertinger, arguing the scholarly value of travel and the study of antiquities. The plates show Greek and Roman coins and medals in paired obverse-reverse roundels: profile heads, standing deities, flaming altars, laurel wreaths and inscribed letters, drawn in fine outline useful as seals, medallions or spot ornaments.
