An illustrated auction catalogue issued by the American Art Association in New York in 1908 for the Blakeslee sale of Early English, Dutch, Flemish and French paintings at Mendelssohn Hall, aimed at collectors and dealers. Full-page sepia halftones reproduce oil portraits and landscapes, mostly half-length women in ruffled gowns, furs and piled hair against dark grounds, giving designers soft-edged tonal figures and vignetted backgrounds that cut out cleanly.
