Denshin kaishu Hokusai manga
A volume of Katsushika Hokusai's Denshin kaishu Hokusai manga, the woodblock-printed drawing compendium issued in Japan from 1814 onward as copy material for students, craftsmen and other artists. Pages hold dozens of unframed sketches in black outline with grey and pink blocks — laborers, travellers in straw hats, foxes, horses, insects, snakes, snails and garden plants — usable as spot motifs, silhouettes or pattern fill.
