Denshin kaishu Hokusai manga
A woodblock-printed drawing manual by Katsushika Hokusai, issued in Edo-period Japan as sketch models for students, painters and craft workers. Pages are packed with small brush studies grouped by subject — cranes, herons, sparrows and owls in dozens of postures, drawn in black outline with light grey tone blocks and no background, so single figures lift cleanly as spot motifs, silhouettes or repeat patterns.
