An Italian antiquarian dissertation by Pietro Pessani on the royal palaces of Pavia and its territory, printed by Giuseppe Bolzani in Pavia in 1771 for local scholars and patrons. The plates are letterpress ornaments: square woodcut initials framed in flowers, bees and putti, plus rococo headpieces with scrollwork, cartouches and fruit baskets, usable as drop caps and dividers.
