De pictura, plastice, statuaria libri duo
A Latin antiquarian treatise on ancient painting, modeling and sculpture by the French classical scholar Jules César Boulenger, printed at Lyon in 1627 by Ludovicus Prost, heir of Rouillé, for scholars of antiquity. The plates are the printing house's own woodcut furniture: inhabited initial letters wrapped in leafy sprigs, snails and snakes, a bearded mask filling a D, and a symmetrical headpiece of birds, swags and a lion mask around a cartouche — stock for ornamental capitals, borders and vignette frames.
