Der alte Germantown-Kalender auf das Jahr 1858 : ... für den Pennsylvanischen Horizont und die angrenzenden Staaten berechnet
A German-language farmers' almanac for 1858, calculated for the Pennsylvania horizon and neighboring states, issued in Philadelphia by Ch. G. Sauer in 1857 for Pennsylvania German households. The pictures are small wood-engraved month vignettes printed within columns of type: scything and raking, splitting rails, a woman among orchard trees, a hearth scene with spinning wheel and fiddle, all built from close parallel hatching that reads as sky, water, and shadow, with clipped or chamfered corners useful as ready-made rural spot illustrations.
