Gottfried Semper's treatise on style in the technical and tectonic arts, issued in Munich by F. Bruckmann in 1878 for craftsmen, architects, artists and amateurs. The illustrations are small wood-engraved line diagrams of vases, ewers, bowls, handles and attachment points, many cropped to isolate a joint or a band of ornament, useful for silhouette studies, profile outlines and repeatable border motifs.
