Bernardo Sansone Sgrilli's 1742 folio from the grand-ducal press in Florence surveys the Medici villa and gardens at Pratolino for patrons, architects and garden makers. Etched plans, elevations and perspective views give terraces, fountains, grottoes, obelisks and clipped avenues in fine line, with engraved scale bars, keyed plan hatching and cypress silhouettes useful as linework and ornament.
