Desiderii Spreti historici Ravennatis De amplitudine, eversione, et restauratione urbis Ravennae libri tres

Spreti, Desiderio, Spreti, Camillo, Roveri, Antonio · 1793 · Ravennae : Typis Antonii Roveri apud Fratres Fava · 21 pictures

A Latin antiquarian history of Ravenna's greatness, destruction, and restoration, written by the fifteenth-century humanist Desiderio Spreti and reissued in 1793 by Camillo Spreti from Antonio Roveri's Ravenna press for scholars of Latin inscriptions and local antiquities. The plates are hard-edged line engravings of circular monograms and christograms built from interlocking capitals, hatched grounds and double-ruled borders, alongside copied inscriptions and small carved heads set in pediments, useful as ready-made roundel marks, ligature letterforms and engraved hatching textures.

Inscriptions, Latin
