Design of a steel grand-stand
A 1913 undergraduate engineering thesis by Roy Campbell Williams at the University of Illinois, working out the structural design of a steel grandstand for faculty examiners. The plates are hand-inked drafting sheets: transverse sections, truss skeletons, bolted-joint details and force diagrams, all built from thin ruled lines, dimension arrows, ruled-off title blocks and small hand lettering that designers can mine for technical line-work and annotation styles.
