Design of a steel highway bridge
An engineering thesis by Waldemar Karkow, submitted at the University of Illinois in 1913, working out the design of a steel highway bridge for examiners in civil engineering. The plates are hand-lettered line drawings of truss spans, stress diagrams and floor systems, with numbered members, load notes and dimension strings, offering designers thin-ruled triangulated grids, diagonal cross-bracing patterns and draughtsman's hand-lettering.
