Liceti, Fortunio, 1577-1657 · 1640 · Vtini : Ex typographia Nicolai Schiratti · 2 pictures

A Latin treatise by the Paduan physician and natural philosopher Fortunio Liceti arguing that the earth is the single centre of celestial motion, printed at Udine by Nicolò Schiratti in 1640 for university scholars and astronomers. The plates here are mostly bare aged paper with ghosted show-through of the engraved title lettering, plus an armorial bookplate in red-brown ink showing a wyvern on a shield, an armoured arm with halberd above, and a ribbon motto, useful for paper textures, heraldic devices and banner scrolls.
