Deugden-spoor; in de on-deughden des werelts aff-gebeeldt
A Dutch emblem book on conduct and vice, Petrus Baardt's verse adaptation of Johann Flittner's Nebulo nebulonum, printed by Steffen Geerts at Leeuwarden in 1645 for moralizing lay readers. The pictures shown are woodcut initial letters set in square blocks, with foliage, fruit, flowers, scrolling acanthus and an occasional head filling the counters, usable as drop caps, ornament, and border fragments.
