Deutsche Kunstgeschichte
A survey history of German art by the painter and art historian Hermann Knackfuss, published in Bielefeld and Leipzig by Velhagen & Klasing in 1888 for German students and general readers. Wood-engraved plates copy medieval ivories, enamelled book covers, carved altarpieces and manuscript miniatures, giving arcade frames, haloed enthroned rulers, banded narrative registers and crowded relief figures usable as ornament and historical motifs.
