A multi-volume German genealogical handbook of middle-class families, edited by Bernhard Koerner and issued from 1889 by C.A. Starke in Görlitz for family historians, heraldists and the families themselves. The plates are faint halftone reproductions of oval profile portraits and drawn coats of arms with acanthus mantling and helmet crests, printed thin enough that the text beneath shows through; useful for oval portrait frames, shield-and-scroll ornament, and ghostly low-contrast textures.
