Devises heroiqves et morales
An emblem book of heroic and moral devices by the French Jesuit poet Pierre Le Moyne, printed in Paris by Augustin Courbé in 1649 for court and learned readers. The plates here are woodcut initial letters set in dense foliage, laurel sprays and rosettes, cut in heavy black line on laid paper, useful as drop caps, ornaments and border motifs.
