A popular science account of gems and diamonds by the French geologist Louis Dieulafait, translated by Fanchon Sanford and published in New York by Scribner, Armstrong in 1874 for general readers. The plates are white-line wood engravings of crystal forms on solid black grounds, with solid edges and dashed hidden edges, usable as geometric diagrams, reversed-out line art, or mineral motifs.
