A dictionary of the architecture and archaeology of the Middle Ages : including words used by ancient and modern authors in treating of architectural and other antiquities ... : also, biographical notices of ancient architects
John Britton's 1838 illustrated dictionary of medieval architecture and archaeology, engraved largely by John Le Keux and published in London for antiquaries, architects and church restorers. The plates are fine outline engravings grouping arches, windows, doorways, buttresses and pinnacles in comparative rows, many with measured profiles and section lines, giving designers a stock of isolated Gothic and Romanesque forms on blank grounds.
