The dictionary of needlework : an encyclopædia of artistic, plain, and fancy needlework ...
A Victorian reference encyclopaedia of needlework compiled by Sophia Caulfeild and Blanche Saward, published in London by L. Upcott Gill in 1882 for household needlewomen and instructors. The engravings show stitches, knots, lace grounds and woven bands drawn thread by thread in dense black line on cream paper, giving designers ready-made repeating textures, netted lattices, looped rosettes and diagrams of cord construction.
