Dictionary of painters and engravers
Michael Bryan's biographical dictionary of painters and engravers, revised and expanded by George Charles Williamson and issued by G. Bell in London in 1903 for collectors, dealers and art students. The plates are halftone reproductions of European portraits and figure paintings, soft-edged and dark, useful for period faces, costume detail, and the grainy tonal look of early photomechanical printing.
