Karl Heinrich von Heinecken's alphabetical dictionary of printmakers and their engraved works, printed in French by Johann Gottlob Immanuel Breitkopf at Leipzig in 1778 for print collectors and connoisseurs. The plates here are the book's typographic furniture: woodcut headbands of roses and foliage on a horizontal bar, a trophy of garden tools and birds framed by columns, and plain or finialled rules used as section dividers.
