A 1750 Paris reference dictionary of artists' monograms, initials, rebuses and signature marks, translated from Johann Friedrich Christ by Gottfried Sellius and engraved by Pierre-Alexandre Aveline and Jean Lattré for collectors and print dealers. The plates give small square woodcut initials on ruled and cross-hatched grounds framed by scrolls and leaf sprays, alongside hundreds of interlaced monograms and cipher marks usable as letterforms, stamps and small badge devices.
