Die Komposition der pompejanischen Wandgemälde
Gerhart Rodenwaldt's 1909 Berlin study, published by Weidmannsche Buchhandlung, analyses the composition of Pompeian wall paintings for archaeologists and art historians. The 35 halftones reproduce mythological panels in grainy grey—seated heroes, mothers with children, wounded Aeneas, rocky landscapes with single trees—useful for figure groupings, draped poses, and soft-edged textures salvaged from damaged plaster.
