Johannes ab Indagine's German handbook of palmistry, physiognomy and astrology, printed at Strasbourg by Johann Schott in 1523 with woodcuts attributed to Hans Baldung, aimed at lay readers diagnosing character and illness. Outline woodcuts show palms marked with lines, stars, crosses and zodiac glyphs, heads in profile, and square astrological charts usable as diagram stock, occult symbols and linear figure studies.
