Thérèse de Dillmont's 1890 needle-lace manual, published at Mülhausen in Alsace for women working point lace at home. Plates show white line drawings on black grounds: compass-drawn rosettes, six- and eight-pointed stars, leaf-shaped eyelets and grid frameworks, giving designers ready geometric motifs, radial constructions and reversed-out linework for tiles, borders and repeat patterns.
