Die Ornamente der Hakim- und Ashar-Moschee; Materialien zur Geschichte der älteren Kunst des Islam
A 1912 archaeological monograph by Samuel Flury, published in Heidelberg by C. Winter, documenting the carved stucco and stone ornament of the Hakim and al-Azhar mosques in Cairo as source material for the history of early Islamic art. The plates are close-range photographs of relief panels, door and window frames, and inscription bands, showing split-palmette scrolls, interlaced strapwork and Kufic lettering in raking light; designers can lift arabesque scroll units, border repeats and angular letterforms.
