Die schmiedekunst bis zum ausgang des 18. jahrhunderts
A German survey of wrought ironwork from the Middle Ages to the end of the eighteenth century, written by Adolf Brüning and revised by Alfred Rohde, published in Leipzig in 1922 for craftsmen, museum curators and students of the decorative arts. Its 176 plates combine line engravings of smiths' designs with photographs of finished gates, grilles, screens and brackets, offering scrolled acanthus, lattice panels, crests, masks and repeating baluster rhythms usable as ornament stock or border structure.
