Discorsi sopra l'antichità di Roma
A 1582 Venetian folio of discourses on the antiquities of Rome by architect Vincenzo Scamozzi, with plates after Battista Pittoni engraved by Girolamo Porro, made for architects, antiquarians and collectors. The 57 double-page etchings show brick arches, broken vaults and overgrown masonry under finely hatched skies, with Latin captions and small staffage figures, supplying ruin silhouettes, textured line shading and architectural fragments.
