A discovrse of fire and salt : discovering many secret mysteries, as well philosophicall, as theologicall
An English translation of Blaise de Vigenère's alchemical treatise on fire and salt, printed by Richard Cotes in London in 1649 for readers of natural philosophy and hermetic theology. The plates here are printer's ornament: woodcut headpiece bands of scrolling foliage, flowers and grotesque masks, plus a foliate initial E, useful as rules, chapter dividers and drop caps.
