A dissertation on the Oriental trinities
A privately printed scholarly dissertation by the Anglican orientalist Thomas Maurice, issued in London in 1801 for antiquarians and clergy comparing Hindu, Persian and Hebrew triads with Christian doctrine. The copperplate folding plates mix figures copied from the Elephanta cave sculptures and Mithraic rock reliefs with concentric Sephiroth diagrams, two-sided coins bearing Irish and Sanskrit inscriptions, and a radiating serpent-and-cloud scene, all captioned in engraved script useful for diagram borrowing, emblem cutouts and lettering.
