Dissertazioni e lettere filologiche antiquarie
Posthumous collected dissertations and letters on Latin inscriptions by the Jesuit antiquarian Antonio Maria Lupi, issued in 1753 at Arezzo by Michele Bellotti for scholars of epigraphy and classical antiquities. The plates here are the printer's woodcut ornaments rather than the inscriptions: symmetrical headpieces and tailpieces built from C-scrolls and strapwork, enclosing radiant sun faces, a basket of flowers, and crossed trumpets, cut in coarse black line with hatched shading that reproduces well at small sizes.
