A pattern book of ornament copied from ancient Roman buildings and fragments, engraved and compiled by Carlo Antonini and printed in Rome by Casaletti in 1781 for painters, sculptors, architects, stonecutters, stuccoists, silversmiths, embroiderers and cabinetmakers. The plates are square framed panels holding single carved rosettes in line engraving, each with acanthus or laurel petals radiating from a boss and a cast shadow, giving designers isolated radial motifs, foliate centres and hatched relief shading to reuse.
