A pattern book of ornament copied from ancient Roman buildings and fragments, engraved and published by Carlo Antonini in Rome in 1781 for painters, sculptors, architects, stonecutters, stuccoists, silversmiths, embroiderers and cabinetmakers. Plates isolate single motifs in square frames: acanthus rosettes, coffer bosses and candelabra parts, rendered in fine burin hatching that reads cleanly as line art when enlarged or silhouetted.
