Documenti d'amore
A 1640 Roman edition of Francesco da Barberino's fourteenth-century didactic poem on love, printed by Vitale Mascardi with engraved plates by Cornelis Bloemaert, issued for scholars and collectors of Italian emblem and allegory literature. The sampled pages give heavy-line woodcut initials wrapped in leaves, vines and grotesque profiles, plus a symmetrical scrollwork tailpiece with bow and cartouches, usable as drop caps and section breaks.
