Doorlugte voorbeelden der ouden : leerzaame zinnebeelden, nevens 't treurspel van L. Junius Brutus, vaderlyke gestrengheid, en verscheide gedigten
A Dutch emblem book of moral examples from antiquity by Roeland van Leuve, printed in Amsterdam by Hendrik Bosch in 1725, bound with his tragedy of L. Junius Brutus and assorted verse for a reading public of moralizing burghers. The 84 plates are small horizontal copper-engraved vignettes in ruled cartouche frames, each holding a classical courtroom, throne room or prison scene built from dense parallel hatching, columns, drapery and armoured figures; useful for ornamental frame shapes, engraved tonal textures and staged figure groups.
