The dramatic story of old glory
A popular history of the United States flag written by Samuel Abbott and published in New York by Boni and Liveright in 1919, aimed at general readers and schools during the patriotic surge following the First World War. The plates are coarse-screen halftones, some reproducing paintings of Revolutionary and Civil War ceremonies, others photographs of troops on parade, offering grouped figures in tricorn hats and uniforms, striped flags held aloft, and grainy grey tonal backgrounds usable as texture.
