Duodecim specula deum aliquando videre desideranti concinnata
A Latin emblem book of Christian meditation by the Jesuit Jan David, engraved by Theodoor Galle and printed by Jan Moretus at the Plantin press in Antwerp in 1610, for devout and learned readers. Full-page copperplates set kneeling figures, animals, mirrors and lettered keys in open landscapes, alongside woodcut initials and grotesque headpieces useful for diagrams, banderoles and ornament.
