Durer (engravings)
A 1904 Bates and Guild portfolio reproducing Albrecht Dürer's engravings, drypoints and woodcuts from around 1510-1512, issued in Boston for artists, students and print collectors. Plates are dense black-line Passion scenes — Agony in the Garden, Harrowing of Hell, Descent from the Cross, Christ as gardener with Magdalene — with hatched drapery, radiating light, ladders, timber, and crowded figure groups against blank grounds.
