Dutch etchers of the seventeenth century
Laurence Binyon's 1905 survey of seventeenth-century Dutch etchers, issued in London by Seeley for collectors and students of printmaking. Reproductions show line-etched landscapes with heavy foliage masses, ruined walls and wayside shrines, plus small figure groups of peasants in cloaks and broad hats; useful for dense hatching textures, silhouetted trees and vignette compositions with pale backgrounds.
