Dyers' materials; an introduction to the examination, evaluation and application of the most important substances used in dyeing, printing, bleaching and finishing

Heermann, Paul, b. 1868 · 1901 · London : Scott, Greenwood & Co · 12 pictures

A technical handbook on dyers' materials by Paul Heermann, published in English translation by Scott, Greenwood & Co. in London in 1901 for dyeworks chemists and textile finishers testing starches, gums and mordants. The plates are microscope views of starch grains printed white on solid black, showing concentric rings, hilum crosses and clustered size gradations that read as ready-made abstract pattern fields and dot textures.
