Early America bookbinding and kindred subjects
A collector's study of early American bookbinding written by the New York bibliophile William Loring Andrews and issued by Dodd, Mead in 1902 for a small audience of book collectors and trade historians. The plates are halftone photographs of bound volumes shot flat, showing tooled leather covers with ruled and rolled borders, Greek-key and foliate frames, corner ornaments, central lozenges and compartmented spines, usable as border stock, stamped ornament references and tooling patterns.
