Early American folk pottery, including the history of Bennington pottery
A collector's survey of American folk pottery and Bennington ware, compiled by Hartford collector Albert Hastings Pitkin and published posthumously by his wife in 1918 for collectors, dealers and museum curators. Halftone photographs show jugs, pitchers, teapots and covered jars in flint enamel and Rockingham glaze, shot against plain grounds, with relief hunting scenes, grapevine bands, panelled and lobed bodies and incised cobalt maker's marks usable as vessel silhouettes and ornament sources.
